Chiropractic in Casuarina, Tweed CoastOur approach: look beyond the symptom.
How Restored Living thinks about your body — from posture and compensation to ABC, reassessment and the broader picture. Plain language, no promises we can't keep.
Why we look beyond the site of symptoms
Symptoms are usually what start the conversation — and they matter. But the area that hurts isn't automatically the whole clinical picture. A sore neck may sit alongside how you hold your head at a screen; a stiff lower back alongside how your hips and feet move.
So alongside your history, we look at how your body is organised and moving overall. Not to claim that one thing causes another, but to understand the bigger picture before recommending anything.

Posture, structure & movement
Posture, structure and movement are observable. We can see how you stand, how weight travels through your feet, how your head sits over your shoulders, and how you turn, bend and reach.
These findings are part of a broader assessment. They help us describe what's happening — they don't, on their own, explain every symptom.
Adaptation & compensation
Bodies adapt to the demands placed on them — work, sport, previous injury and daily habits. Over time these adaptations can become patterns: the shoulder that does more, the hip that does less, the way you lean when you're tired.
Understanding these patterns helps explain why we look at more than one area, and why changes in one region can sometimes be considered alongside another.
ABC and the concept of unwinding
Advanced BioStructural Correction (ABC) is Adam's main structural framework. ABC uses the idea of "unwinding" to describe how adaptive patterns may be addressed progressively, in a particular order, rather than all at once.
Unwinding is an educational concept. It helps explain the process — it is not a guaranteed biological pathway, and it doesn't imply that every person needs the same number of visits.
Why symptoms and findings change at different rates
It's common for how you feel and what we observe to move at different speeds. Symptoms may ease early while posture and movement findings change more gradually — or the other way round. Neither is "right"; both are information.
Presenting concern
What brought you in, and what you'd like to get back to.
Early change
Symptoms may shift early — or not. Either way, it's one piece of information.
Broader progress
Posture, movement and other findings can change at their own pace.
Reassessment
We formally review findings, progress, preferences and goals together.
Next appropriate step
Recommendations can continue, change, reduce or conclude.
Illustrative only — not a prediction. Every person's path is different, and care is guided by your findings, progress, preferences and goals.
The broader Restored Living model
Structure and posture are the foundation. Once that picture is understood, Adam may draw on additional frameworks where they're relevant:
- Function & coordination — Applied Kinesiology (AK) and Neural Organisation Technique (NOT), involving manual muscle testing and movement/reflex patterns.
- Mind–body, beliefs & patterns — Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) and PSYCH-K, complementary approaches concerned with emotional responses, beliefs and habitual patterns.
Not everyone needs every part. We'll explain what's relevant to you, and why.
The techniques, explained.

01Advanced BioStructural Correction (ABC)Adam's core structural and postural framework.
Adam's core structural and postural framework.
Advanced BioStructural Correction (ABC) is a structural chiropractic technique that looks at how the body is organised as a whole — spine, pelvis, ribs and limbs — rather than one segment at a time.
ABC describes the body as adapting to the loads placed on it over time. Adjustments are made in a particular order so those adaptive patterns can be addressed progressively, which is where the idea of "unwinding" comes from.
In the studio, ABC is the foundation of how Adam assesses posture and structure, and it guides most structural care.
02Applied Kinesiology (AK) — certifiedManual muscle testing and functional assessment.
Manual muscle testing and functional assessment.
Applied Kinesiology (AK) uses manual muscle testing alongside standard orthopaedic and neurological checks to gather information about how your body is functioning.
A muscle test simply involves you holding a position while Adam applies light pressure. The response is one piece of clinical information — weighed together with your history, posture and movement findings — not a diagnosis on its own.
Adam is certified in AK and draws on it where it's relevant to you.
03Neural Organisation Technique (NOT) — certifiedAssessment of movement and reflex coordination patterns.
Assessment of movement and reflex coordination patterns.
Neural Organisation Technique (NOT) is a chiropractic system focused on how the nervous system coordinates movement, posture and reflexes.
It follows a structured sequence of checks, using muscle testing, to look at coordination patterns such as balance and gait, with gentle corrections where they're indicated.
Adam is certified in NOT and uses it alongside the structural work where it fits.
04Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) & PSYCH-KComplementary approaches concerned with emotional responses, beliefs and patterns.
Complementary approaches concerned with emotional responses, beliefs and patterns.
Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) is a mind–body technique that looks at how stress and emotional responses may sit alongside physical patterns. It combines muscle testing with a short, structured conversation and gentle contact.
PSYCH-K is a process concerned with beliefs and habitual patterns. It uses simple, guided steps to help you approach a goal or a stressor differently.
Both are complementary approaches. They are not a substitute for psychological or medical care, and they are only used with your agreement and where relevant.
05Lifestyle & nutrition guidancePractical advice that fits your day-to-day life.
Practical advice that fits your day-to-day life.
Practical guidance on the things you do every day — how you sit, sleep, move, train and eat — so what happens in the studio is supported at home.
Advice is simple and realistic, and fits around your work, your family and the way you live on the coast. Where you'd benefit from more specialised input, Adam will refer you to the right professional.
Individualised recommendations & reassessment
Care isn't a pre-packaged program. Recommendations are based on your findings, progress, preferences and goals — and they're reviewed at planned reassessments.
